WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Ram Wagon, 2002 Dodge Ram Van, 2001 Dodge Ram Wagon, and 2001 Dodge Ram Van. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: This testing only applies to models with vehicle theft security system.

Possible Causes:

  1. Auxiliary Door Scan Tool Read
  2. Side Auxiliary Door Switch
  3. Rear Auxiliary Door Switch
  4. Auxiliary Door Switch Sense Circuit
  5. Central Timer Module

Testing

  1. Ensure side and rear doors are fully closed. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read AUX DOOR AJAR SW status. If scan tool displays AUX DOOR AJAR SW: OPEN, perform ONE DOOR FAILING TO LOCK/UNLOCK FROM ANY SWITCH  test. If scan tool does not display AUX DOOR AJAR SW: OPEN, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect side auxiliary door ajar switch connector. Using scan tool, read AUX DOOR AJAR SW status. If scan tool displays AUX DOOR AJAR SW: OPEN, replace side auxiliary door ajar switch. If scan tool does not display AUX DOOR AJAR SW: OPEN, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect rear auxiliary door ajar switch connector. Using scan tool, read AUX DOOR AJAR SW status. If scan tool displays AUX DOOR AJAR SW: OPEN, replace rear auxiliary door ajar switch. If scan tool does not display AUX DOOR AJAR SW: OPEN, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C2. Measure resistance between terminal No. 15 (Brown/Tan wire) at CTM connector C2 and ground. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in auxiliary door switch sense circuit. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace CTM.
