Fuel Pump Module

The electric fuel pump is located in the fuel tank and is part of the fuel pump module. See Figure . The fuel system uses either a positive displacement, gerotor type immersible pump with a permanent magnet electric motor. This fuel system dose not contain the traditional fuel return lines. The regulator contains a calibrated spring which forces a diaphragm against the fuel filter return port. When pressure exceeds the calibrated amount, the diaphragm retracts, allowing excess pressure and fuel to vent into the tank. The fuel pump has a maximum deadheaded pressure of approximately 130 psi (880 kPa). The regulator adjusts fuel system pressure to approximately 53-63 psi (365-434 kPa).
