Any PCI Bus Indicator Inoperative

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, select J1850 Module Scan. If the DRBIII® displays MIC PRESENT on the BUS, go to the next step. If the DRBIII® does not display MIC PRESENT on the BUS, refer to the COMMUNICATION category of the DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION table and perform the appropriate symptom. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table.
  2. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, Select BODY, MIC, the MODULE DISPLAY. If the DRBIII® displays NO RESPONSE from MIC, refer to the symptom BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN OR NO RESPONSE FROM INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. See BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN OR NO RESPONSE FROM INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . If the DRBIII® does not display NO RESPONSE from MIC, go to the next step.
  3. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, select BODY, MIC, SYSTEM TESTS, PCM MONITOR. If the DRBIII® displays PCM INACTIVE on the BUS, refer to the symptom, NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (PCI BUS). See NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (PCI BUS) . If the DRBIII® does not display PCM INACTIVE on the BUS, go to the next step.
    4. NOTE: Diagnose and repair any PCM DTCs before proceeding with this test.
  4. Perform the Instrument Cluster diagnostic Self Test. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Observe the indicator in question during the Self Test. If the indicator illuminated, refer to the symptom list to diagnose the related system. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table. If the indicator did not illuminate, replace the Instrument Cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article.
