Overhead Liftgate/Lockout Switches Short

NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait approximately 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate liftgate from overhead console switch. Recheck for DTCs. If OVERHEAD LIFTGATE/LOCKOUT SWITCHES SHORT resets, go to next step. If OVERHEAD LIFTGATE/LOCKOUT SWITCHES SHORT does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
- Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Disconnect overhead console switch. Overhead console will need to be removed to access switch connector. See OVERHEAD CONSOLE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition off. Wait approximately 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Recheck for DTCs. If OVERHEAD LIFTGATE/LOCKOUT SWITCHES SHORT resets, go to next step. If OVERHEAD LIFTGATE/LOCKOUT SWITCHES SHORT does not reset, replace overhead console switch assembly.
- Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C2. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 6 (Violet/Tan wire). If resistance is greater than 500 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 500 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Violet/Tan wire.
