Sensor-Steering Angle: Removal

WARNING: BEFORE SERVICING THE STEERING COLUMN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM MUST BE DISARMED. REFER TO RESTRAINTS - SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SERVICE PROCEDURES. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

CAUTION: All fasteners must be torqued to specification to ensure proper operation of the steering column.

Position the front wheels straight ahead .
Fully extend or pull out adjustable steering column.
Disconnect the negative (ground) cable from the battery.

Remove the airbag (3) from the steering wheel (1). (Refer to ELECTRICAL/RESTRAINTS/DRIVER AIRBAG - REMOVAL) .

Remove the steering wheel mounting bolt (2) then remove the steering wheel (1).

Remove the clock spring screws (1), (Refer to CLOCKSPRING ).

Remove the steering angle sensor (3) screws.

Remove the steering angle sensor (1) from the column (2).
