Diagnostic Test

  1. 1)  PERFORM THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE VERIFICATION TEST 
    NOTE: Ensure that the passenger seat is empty.
    NOTE: Ensure that all seat and strain gauge sensor bolts are properly torqued.

    Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds and turn ignition on.

    With the scan tool, read OCM DTCs.

    Did the DTC: B2212-OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE INTERNAL reset? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To  2).

    No 

    1. Perform *OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to *OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
  2. 2)  PERFORM OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST 

    Verify that the passenger seat is empty.

    NOTE: Failure to follow the test instructions or aborting the test will cause faults to set when performing the Occupant Classification Module System Verification Test. To prevent faults due to process errors: Verify That All Tests Steps That Led You Here Were Performed As Directed; Verify That The Ignition Is In Run; Wait 30 Seconds After Changing The Seat Weight Before Proceeding To Allow The System To Stabilize; Only Press Scan Tool Buttons When Directed To Do So; and Perform The Occupant Classification Module System Verification Test To Completion.

    With the scan tool in OCM, select More Options, select System Tests, and select Occupant Classification Module System Verification Test. Run the test by following the instructions displayed on the scan tool. When the test is complete, proceed as follows.

    With the scan tool, read OCM DTCs.

    Does the scan tool display any active DTCs? 

    Yes - B2212 is ACTIVE 

    1. Go To  3).

    Yes - other DTCs ACTIVE 

      NOTE: Diagnose and repair all active codes before diagnosing stored codes. Refer to appropriate DIAGNOSTIC TEST .
    1. Diagnose and repair the DTCs.

    No 

    1. Perform *OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to *OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. 3)  VERIFY SENSOR TORQUE 

    Verify that the passenger seat is empty.

    Verify that all of the Seat Weight Sensor mounting screws are torqued to specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

    NOTE: Failure to follow the test instructions or aborting the test will cause faults to set when performing the Occupant Classification Module System Verification Test. To prevent faults due to process errors: Verify That All Tests Steps That Led You Here Were Performed As Directed; Verify That The Ignition Is In Run; Wait 30 Seconds After Changing The Seat Weight Before Proceeding To Allow The System To Stabilize; Only Press Scan Tool Buttons When Directed To Do So; and Perform The Occupant Classification Module System Verification Test To Completion.

    With the scan tool in OCM, select More Options, select System Tests, and select Occupant Classification Module System Verification Test. Run the test by following the instructions displayed on the scan tool. When the test is complete, proceed as follows.

    With the scan tool, read OCM DTCs.

    Does the scan tool display any active DTCs? 

    Yes - B2212 is ACTIVE 

    1. Replace the Occupant Classification Module in accordance with the service information.
    2. Perform *OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to *OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .

    Yes - other DTCs ACTIVE 

      NOTE: Diagnose and repair all active codes before diagnosing stored codes. Refer to appropriate DIAGNOSTIC TEST .
    1. Diagnose and repair the DTCs.

    No 

    1. Perform *OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to *OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
