Throttle Position Sensor: Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) contains two actual value potentiometers for detecting the position of the throttle valve. The second potentiometer is designed to form a reference value. The system will switch over to the second potentiometer if the first one fails. The TPS cannot be serviced separately. If the TPS fails, the Throttle Body must be replaced. Refer to the Throttle Body service procedures. (Refer to FUEL SYSTEM/FUEL INJECTION/THROTTLE BODY - REMOVAL) .
