Backlite - Removal

REMOVAL

NOTE: For removal of the convertible soft top (CST) backlite glass, Convertible Top Backlite - Removal .






CAUTION: Do not operate the vehicle within 24 hours of backlite installation. It takes at least 24 hours for urethane adhesive to cure.

CAUTION: Open the left front door glass before installing the rear window to avoid pressurizing the passenger compartment if a door is slammed before the urethane bonding is fully cured. This may result in potential water leaks.

1. Remove headliner (rear headliner hard top).
2. Disengage wire connectors from rear window defogger.

WARNING: Wear eye and hand protection when handling safety glass. Serious or fatal injury may result.

3. Using an assistant and a wire-type windshield cutting tool (1, 3 and 4), cut and separate the urethane adhesive (2) securing the backlite to the fence.
4. Remove the rear window from the vehicle.
