3.6L Engine

  1. Remove negative (-) battery cable from battery and isolate cable.
  2. Remove cap from power steering fluid reservoir.
  3. Using a siphon pump, remove as much power steering fluid as possible from power steering fluid reservoir.
  4. Remove accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .
  5. Raise and support vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  6. Remove exhaust pipe. Refer to PIPE, EXHAUST CROSSUNDER, REMOVAL .
  7. Remove 3 heat shield mounting bolts (2). Remove heat shield (1) from vehicle.

  8. Remove supply hose clamp (1) and remove supply hose from power steering pump fitting.

  9. Remove power steering pump pressure hose fitting (2).
  10. Remove three pump mounting bolts through pump pulley (not shown in figure).
  11. Remove pump (1) (with pulley) from below.
  12. If pulley needs removal. Refer to PULLEY, POWER STEERING PUMP, REMOVAL .
