Password Programming

If a transmitter is lost or damaged, control module/receiver must be re-programmed to communicate with a new transmitter. Passwords recorded in control module/receiver should not be deleted when power is not connected to control module/receiver. Each control module/receiver should be able to record five passwords. Following method is used to record new passwords in control module/receiver:

  1. Connect scan tool to data link connector (DLC). Turn ignition ON. Use scan tool to delete current passwords. Send programming mode message to control module/receiver. Press any button of transmitter to generate a data code, including a password which will be recorded by control module/receiver. Control module/receiver will send a response message to scan tool to indicate that first password has been recorded.
  2. Press any button of transmitter to generate a data code, including a password which will be recorded by control module/receiver. Control module/receiver will then send a response message to scan tool to indicate that second password has been recorded. Press any button of transmitter three more times until control module/receiver has indicated to scan tool that third, fourth, and fifth passwords have been recorded. Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect scan tool.
NOTE:

The control module/receiver leaves programming mode automatically and switches to normal operating mode when either of following conditions occur:

  • The scan tool is disconnected from DLC.
  • Five passwords are recorded in control module/receiver.
