Knock Sensor

The knock sensor detects abnormal knocking in the engine. The sensor is mounted in engine block near cylinders. The sensor produces an AC output voltage which increases with severity of knock. This signal is sent to powertrain control module (PCM)/engine control module (ECM). The PCM/ECM then adjusts ignition timing to reduce spark knock.
