Knock Sensor

The knock sensor detects abnormal knocking in engine. The sensor is mounted in engine block near cylinders. The sensor produces an A/C output voltage which increases with severity of knock. This signal is sent to powertrain control module (PCM)/engine control module (ECM). The PCM/ECM then adjusts ignition timing to reduce spark knock.
