Testing With DVOM
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove glove compartment box. Install ECU Check Sub Harness (09842-87704-000
) between ECU and engine harness. Reconnect negative battery cable.CAUTION: After inspection of ECU, before ECU Check Sub Harness (09842- 87704-000) is removed, ensure negative battery cable is disconnected. After ECU and engine wiring have been connected, reconnected negative battery cable. Before ECU Check Sub Harness is connected, ensure that there is no open circuit or short between terminals.
- CEC circuit can be checked by measuring resistance and voltages at ECU Check Sub Harness terminals. See Fig 1 . Voltage check should be conducted under a condition where all connectors are connected. Ensure battery voltage is 11 volts or more when ignition is turned on.
- Using DVOM, check each ECU Check Sub Harness (09842-87704-000 ) terminal voltage readings according to ECU WIRING CONNECTORS (DIAGNOSTIC CODES) and ECU CONNECTORS charts. If voltage reading are to specifications shown in chart, check each individual component. If each individual component checks out good according to test procedure, install a known good ECU and retest.
