Pressure VSV
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove glove compartment subassembly. Connect ECU Check Sub Harness between ECU and engine wiring.
- Reconnect negative battery cable. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Measure voltage between ECU Check Sub Harness terminals "PVSV" (38) and "E2" (39) while depressing accelerator pedal and increase engine speed to 4000 RPM.
- Depress brake pedal and release accelerator pedal. Ensure voltage drops momentarily. If voltage fails to drop, check wiring between stoplight switch and ECU.
- Repeat step 2) test. If voltage fails to drop, go to step 5). If voltage drops as specified, check ECU. If no voltage is present between ECU Check Sub Harness terminals "PVSV" (38) and "E01" (21), check wiring between main relay and ECU terminal "PVSV" (38).
- Check pressure VSV operation. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove glove compartment subassembly. Connect ECU Check Sub Harness between ECU and engine wiring.
- Reconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect rubber hose connected to pressure VSV. Using a vacuum pump, apply 3.94 in. Hg to check for air leaks.
- If any air leaks are present, replace pressure VSV. Turn ignition on. Short ECU Check Sub Harness terminal "PVSV" (38) to terminal "E01" (21). Ensure vacuum applied in step 6) now reads zero.
- Turn ignition off. Connect vacuum pump to pressure side port of pressure VSV. Ensure that no vacuum is present. If vacuum is present at side port, replace VSV.
