Throttle Position Sensor

  1. Disconnect throttle position sensor connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between terminals "VCC" and "E2". See Fig 1 . Resistance should be 4250-8250 ohms. If resistance is not within specification, replace throttle body.
  2. Measure resistance between terminals "VCC" and "VTH". See Fig 1 . With throttle valve fully closed, resistance should be 3500 10,300 ohms. With throttle valve fully opened, resistance should be 300-6300 ohms. Resistance value should change smoothly from full closing to full opening of throttle valve.
  3. If resistance is not within specification, replace throttle body. Measure resistance between terminals "IDL" and "E2". See Fig 1 . With throttle valve fully closed, resistance should be 15 35 ohms. With throttle valve opened more than 1.5 degrees, resistance should be 100,000 ohms. If resistance is not within specification, replace throttle body.
