EGR System
- Using a 3-way connector, connect a vacuum gauge to hose between EGR valve and EGR vacuum modulator. To check seating of EGR valve, start engine and ensure that engine runs at idle speed.
- To check EVSV with engine in cold state, coolant temperature should be below 102.2°F (39°C). Ensure that vacuum gauge registers zero. To check EVSV with engine in hot state, warm engine and ensure that vacuum gauge registers a high vacuum reading at an engine speed of 3000 RPM.
- To check EGR valve, apply vacuum directly to EGR valve with engine idling. Ensure that engine runs roughly or stalls. Reconnect vacuum hose to original location. If no problem is found during this inspection, the system is functioning properly. If any problem is found, check and remedy the part concerned.
