Electronic Control Unit (ECU)
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove glove compartment subassembly. Connect ECU Check Sub Harness (09842-87704-000 ) between ECU and engine wiring. Reconnect negative battery cable. Connect DVOM to ECU and check for voltage and resistance readings, see VOLTAGE AT ECU WIRING CONNECTORS (See Figure .) and RESISTANCE AT ECU TERMINALS charts. If voltage and resistance readings are within specifications and engine still malfunctions, replace ECU.
NOTE:
Wiring circuit of EFI can be checked by measuring voltage and resistance at ECU terminals. Measurement of voltage should be conducted while all connectors are connected. Ensure battery voltage is 11 volts or more when ignition is turned "ON". Be sure to conduct resistance measurement at ECU Check Sub Harness.
