Pressure Sensor

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove glove compartment subassembly. Connect ECU Check Sub Harness (09842-87704-000 ) between ECU and engine wiring.
NOTE: Before ECU Check Sub Harness (09842-87704-000
) is installed, be sure to perform continuity and short tests between ECU Check Sub Harness terminals.
  2. Check output of pressure sensor. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ECU Check Sub Harness terminals "PIM" (9) and "E2" (39) with ignition turned on. See PRESSURE SENSOR SPECIFIED VALUE  chart.
    PRESSURE SENSOR SPECIFIED VALUE

Altitude Ft. (mm) Atmos. Pressure In. Hg Voltage
    0 (0) 29.92 2.1-2.7
    1640 (500) 28.19 1.9-2.5
    3280 (1000) 26.54 1.8-2.4
  3. If voltage is not as specified in chart, measure voltage between ECU Check Sub Harness terminals "VCC" (31) and "E2" (39). If measured voltage is within 4.5-5.5 volts, replace pressure sensor.
  4. When pressure sensor is replaced, replace gas and air filter also. If voltage is not within 4.5-5.5 volts, check wiring between ECU and pressure sensor.
  5. Disconnect rubber hose connected to pressure sensor. Using a vacuum pump, apply 7.87 in. Hg to disconnected hose. Check that measured voltage between ECU Check Sub Harness terminals "PIM" (9) and "E2" (39) drops .55-.7 volt. If voltage fails to drop as specified, replace pressure sensor.
