Run Mode
With the engine started and operating normally, spark timing is controlled by the computer, based upon information received from the data sensors.
Spark timing and dwell cannot be adjusted in the run mode. If the computer fails, the system will go into "start" mode. This enables vehicle to be driven in for repair, but performance and fuel economy will be poor. If start mode fails, engine will not start or run.
The amount of spark advance in "run" mode is determined by engine speed, temperature and engine vacuum. When spark advance occurs is dependent upon the following conditions:
