Computer Operation

The Single Module Engine Controller (SMEC) controls the entire ignition system. The SMEC ignites the fuel mixture according to different engine operating conditions, by delivering an infinite amount of variable electronic spark advance curves. A microprocessor built-in the unit continually receives input from the engine monitoring sensors. The computer then electronically advances or retards ignition timing to provide even driveability during operation.

During cranking, the SMEC provides a set amount of timing advance for a quick efficient start. The SMEC also electronically adjusts the air/fuel mixture to ensure the most efficient fuel burn possible.
