The 2.2L Turbo II Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPFI) computerized engine control system controls the fuel system, ignition system and emission control system.

The engine control system utilizes a Single Module Engine Controller (SMEC) to regulate air/fuel ratio, charging system, cooling fan, emission control components, idle speed, ignition timing and turbocharger wastegate control.
