Engine Control Module: Testing and Inspection

Whenever a Truck or Mini-Van requires the replacement of the Engine Controller, the vehicle's mileage must be transferred from the odometer to a memory location within the replacement Engine Controller. This enables the new Controller to operate the EMR Lamp properly.

Follow these steps to transfer EMR mileage:

- Use the DRBII to select "EMISSION EMR TEST" Press Yes
- Select test item "EMR MEMORY CHECK" Press Yes
- Display reads "EMR MEMORY CHECK ARE YOU SURE? YES,NO" Press Yes
- ................... "IS INSTRUMENT PANEL MILEAGE BETWEEN XXX AND XXXX?
Press Yes or No (If answer was yes then the test is complete)
- If no.............. "DO YOU WANT TO CORRECT EMR MILEAGE?" Press Yes
- Enter the mileage and press Enter
- DRBII will ask for verification of your entry
- If your entry was accurate.... "EMR MEMORY CHECK TEST COMPLETE"

Note: The Engine Controller updates mileage every 8 miles.
