Instrument Cluster Test 4A - Identifying Warning Light Problems

NOTE: Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see appropriate sections in this article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition switch to UNLOCK position. Observe instrument cluster. Turn ignition on. Indicator lights should illuminate for 2-3 seconds. Using scan tool, actuate ALL SEGMENTS test.
  2. If any segments in odometer or PRNDL fail to illuminate, replace instrument cluster display. If any warning lights fail to illuminate, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 4B. Identify problem(s) and perform indicated test(s) in WARNING LIGHT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table.
