Chime Test 6A - Inoperative Chime Beep Request

NOTE: Perform CHIME TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Ensure vehicle is equipped with Overhead Travel Information System (OTIS) or Automatic Temperature Control (ATC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check ID of Body Control Module (BCM). If communication with BCM is not possible, see VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS  . If BCM communication is possible, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, check ID of ATC and OTIS units. If communication with ATC and OTIS units is not possible, see VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS  . If ATC and OTIS units communication is possible, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, actuate chime test. If chime sounds, go to next step. If chime does not sound, replace BCM. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure in CHIME TEST 2A.
  4. Press any button on ATC or OTIS. If chime does not sound, replace ATC unit or OTIS unit (as applicable). If chime does sound, system is currently functioning correctly.
