Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) Displaying "OC"
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
NOTE:
For CMTC wiring diagram, see ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - FWD VANS article.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CMTC module connector. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector. Sensor is located behind front bumper (right center). Connect jumper wires between ground and each terminal of ambient temperature sensor harness connector. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at CMTC module harness connector terminal No. 2 (Black/Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black/Light Blue wire between CMTC module and ambient temperature sensor.
- Disconnect jumper wires. Connect jumper wire between ambient temperature sensor connector terminals. Turn ignition on. Observe CMTC display. If CMTC displays SC, replace ambient temperature sensor. If CMTC does not display SC, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wires between ground and each terminal of ambient temperature sensor harness connector. Measure resistance at CMTC module connector terminal No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace CMTC module. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Violet/Light Green wire between CMTC module and ambient temperature sensor.
