Wiper Constantly Operating With Switch In Off Position

NOTE: For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition on. Ensure wiper switch is in OFF position. Using scan tool, read intermittent wiper voltage. If voltage is .1 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than .1 volts, replace multifunction switch.
  2. Remove front wiper HI/LO relay in Power Distribution Center (PDC). See Figure . If wipers stop operating, go to step  5 . If wipers continue to operate, go to next step.
  3. Reinstall front wiper HI/LO relay. Disconnect wiper module connector. See Figure . Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and wiper module harness connector terminal No. 1 (Brown/White wire). If voltage is more than .5 volts, repair Brown/White wire for short to voltage. If voltage is .5 volts or less, go to next step.
  4. Measure voltage between ground and wiper module harness connector terminal No. 3 (Red/Yellow wire). If voltage is more than .5 volts, repair Red/Yellow wire for short to voltage. If voltage is .5 volts or less, system is currently functioning correctly.
  5. Reinstall front wiper HI/LO relay. Replace front wiper ON relay in Power Distribution Center (PDC) with known good relay. If wipers stop operating, replace relay. If wipers continue to operate, go to next step.
  6. Remove substitute wiper ON relay. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "B". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and wiper ON relay socket terminal No. 85. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair wiper ON relay control circuit (Red/Violet wire) for short to ground between relay and BCM. If resistance is 100 ohms or more, replace BCM.
