Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) Verification Test

NOTE: Failure to properly program a replacement Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) module will result in a blinking ABS warning indicator.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect all previously disconnected components. Check connectors, clean and repair connectors as necessary. Using scan tool, check tire size and rear axle ratio. If scan tool displays tire size and axle ratio, select MISC, then MODULE REPLACEMENT. If scan tool does not display tire size and axle ratio, select MISC, then SET PINION FACTOR. Inspect rear tires for tire size printed on tire. If tire0 size is not listed on scan tool, install correct size tire to vehicle. Determine rear axle type used on vehicle (not the axle ratio). Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, program correct tire size and axle ratio. Road test vehicle at speeds greater than 30 MPH, for at least 2 minutes. Check for any DTC. If any DTC set during road test, refer to symptom list for further testing. See DTC MESSAGE INDEX DIRECTORY  and SYMPTOMS INDEX DIRECTORY  tables. If DTCs did not set during road test, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect any previously disconnected components and connectors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, erase DTCs, then read DTCs. If any DTCs are present, or recurring symptom, refer to appropriate test for symptoms present. See DTC MESSAGE INDEX DIRECTORY  and SYMPTOMS INDEX DIRECTORY  tables. If there are no new DTC. Road test vehicle for at least 5 minutes, performing several anti-lock braking stops. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If any DTCs are present, return to symptom list for recurring symptom. See DTC MESSAGE INDEX DIRECTORY  and SYMPTOMS INDEX DIRECTORY  tables. If there is no new DTC and customer complaint cannot be duplicated, testing is complete.
