Ram Pickup
- Check fuse No. 2 (10-amp) in junction block. Repair any short circuits and replace fuse as necessary. Go to next step.
- Check for power at fuse. Repair open circuits as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If power exists, go to next step.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Access and disconnect power mirror defogger switch harness connector. See POWER MIRROR DEFOGGER SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check continuity between power mirror defogger switch harness connector terminal No. 2 (Black/Orange wire) and ground. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black/Orange wire between mirror switch and ground.
- Reconnect battery cable. Check for voltage at power mirror defogger switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in circuit between switch and fuse.
- Reconnect power mirror defogger switch harness connector. Turn ignition on. Press heated mirror switch. If Amber light illuminates, go to next step. If Amber light does not illuminate, replace A/C and heater control unit. For removal and installation, see appropriate MANUAL or AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING.
- Using voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe defogger grid connector terminal No. 3 (Light Blue/Yellow wire). If voltage exists, check defogger grid. See POWER MIRROR DEFOGGER under COMPONENT TESTS. If voltage does not exist, replace A/C and heater control unit. For removal and installation, see appropriate MANUAL or AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING.
