NOTE:
Following procedure is only for releasing fuel pressure in fuel lines from fuel cylinders to the engine. This procedure is not to be used if fuel pressure is to be released for servicing of fuel cylinders.
- Close all 4 fuel control valves by rotating knob on fuel control valve clockwise. Fuel control valves are located at end of each fuel cylinder. There are 2 fuel cylinders located on frame rail, just behind the driver's door in front of driver's side rear wheel, and 2 fuel cylinders at rear of vehicle, just behind the rear axle.
- Ensure manual fuel shutoff valve is positioned in line (parallel) with the fuel line. Manual fuel shutoff valve is located between fuel cylinders on frame rail, just behind the driver's door and in front of rear wheel. Manual fuel shutoff valve location may be identified by label on outside of the vehicle body, just in front of driver's side rear wheel. If engine will start, go to next step. If engine will not start, go to step 4.
- Start engine and allow engine to idle until engine stalls. Attempt to start engine 3 more times. If engine will not start, fuel pressure should now be released from fuel lines between fuel rail and fuel cylinders. Use care when servicing any fuel system components, as some residual fuel pressure may still exist. Once fuel system is serviced, ensure the 4 fuel control valves are fully opened.
- Move vehicle outside to well ventilated area. Cycle ignition on and off several times to activate the high-pressure fuel shutoff solenoid. Ensure ignition is off. Slowly loosen fuel line at low-pressure fuel shutoff solenoid and allow fuel pressure be released. Low-pressure fuel shutoff solenoid is mounted on driver's side fuel rail, near center of fuel rail. Once fuel pressure is released, tighten fuel line at low-pressure fuel shutoff solenoid. Fuel pressure should now be released from fuel lines between fuel rail and fuel cylinders. Use care when servicing any fuel system components, as some residual fuel pressure may still exist. Once fuel system is serviced, ensure the 4 fuel control valves are fully opened.
