Test No. 3: Key-In-Ignition Switch Signal Is Not Sent To ETACS ECU
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect connector C201. See Figure . Test key-in reminder switch by checking for continuity between connector C201 terminals No. 4 and 6. With ignition key removed, continuity should not be indicated. With ignition key inserted, continuity should be indicated. If key-in reminder switch tests as specified, go to next step. If key-in reminder switch does not test as specified, repair or replace key-in reminder switch. See COLUMN ECU under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck key-in reminder switch input signal.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between connector C201 terminal No. 4 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or less, go to step 5 .
- Check for poor connections at connector C201 terminals. If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. Recheck key-in reminder switch input signal. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Check for open in Black wire between connector C201 terminal No. 4 and ground. If faulty circuit is found, repair as necessary. Recheck key-in reminder switch input signal. If circuit is okay, system is okay at this time.
- Check for poor connections at ETACS ECU connector C313 and connector C201 terminals. See Figure . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. Recheck key-in reminder switch input signal. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Check for faulty Blue/Red wire between connector C201 terminal No. 6 and ETACS ECU connector C313 terminal No. 48. See Figure . If faulty circuit is found, repair as necessary. Recheck key-in reminder switch input signal. If circuit is okay, replace ETACS ECU.
