Anti-Lock Brake System Module - Removal






REMOVAL





1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. For 4.0L only, remove the upper radiator hose bracket retainer nuts (2) and position aside.






NOTE: When moving the evaporative emissions purge solenoid assembly do not disconnect the purge lines or electrical connector

3. For 4.0L only, lift the evaporative emissions purge solenoid assembly (1) from the bracket (2) and position aside without removing the purge lines.





4. Pull up on the Anti-Lock Brake Module (ABM) harness connector release and disconnect the electrical connector.
5. Remove the ABM mounting screws (1) from the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).

CAUTION: When removing ABM from HCU, be sure to completely separate the two components (approximately 38 mm (1.5 in.) before removing ABM. Otherwise, damage to the pressure sensor or Pump Motor connection may result requiring HCU replacement. Do not to touch the sensor terminals on the HCU side or the contact pads on the ABM side as this may result in contamination and issues in the future.

6. Carefully separate and remove the ABM from the HCU.
