Knock Sensor - Removal

1. Perform the fuel system pressure relief procedure Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
3. Drain the cooling system Service and Repair.
4. Remove the upper intake manifold including EGR tube, PCV, purge and power brake booster vacuum hoses Intake Manifold - Removal.





5. Remove fuel rail and lower intake manifold Intake Manifold - Removal.





6. Remove sensor mounting bolt. Note foam strip on bolt threads. This foam is used only to retain the bolt to sensor for plant assembly. It is not used as a sealant. Do not apply any adhesive, sealant or thread locking compound to this bolt.
7. Remove knock sensor (3) from engine.
