Filter, Diesel Particulate: Removal

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the EGR cooler. Refer to COOLER, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), REMOVAL .
- Remove the oxygen sensor. Refer to SENSOR, OXYGEN, REMOVAL .
- Remove NOx 1/1 sensor. Refer to SENSOR, NOX, REMOVAL .
- Remove the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor 1/1 and 1/2 from the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC)/Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Refer to SENSOR, EXHAUST TEMPERATURE, REMOVAL .
- Remove the cooling fan. Refer to FAN, COOLING, REMOVAL .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE
.
- Remove the nuts (1) and separate the Selective Catalytic Reduction Catalyst (SCR) from the DOC/DPF.
- Remove the nuts (1, 3) and the rear support bracket (2).
- Remove the two upper DOC/DPF support bracket bolts (1).
- Remove the nuts (3) and the upper DOC/DPF support bracket (2).
- Remove the two upper bolts (1), two lower bolts, and the DOC/DPF heat shield (2).
- Loosen the DPF V-band clamp (1).
- Remove the right engine mount and lower the engine down.
- Remove the DPF (2) by coming out on top side of engine compartment.
- Remove and discard flange gasket.
