Arm, Lower Control: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove wheel mounting bolts, then tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

  3. For left side only, remove the through bolt (3). Refer to INSULATOR, ENGINE MOUNT, REAR, REMOVAL .

  4. Remove stabilizer link stud through lower control arm nut (2).

  5. Remove lower ball joint retaining nut (3) to lower control arm and using (special tool #C-3894-A, Puller, Tie Rod) separate ball joint from control arm.

  6. For right side, remove the front horizontal bolt (1).
  7. For left side only, rotate the engine and transmission away from the front horizontal bolt (1) and remove front horizontal bolt (1).
  8. Remove rear vertical bolt (2) attaching lower control arm to cross-member.
  9. Remove lower control arm.
