Removal And Installation: Installation

NOTE:

All of the linkage and gear to gear contact points on the A/C heater control should be adequately lubricated using Molykote® Grease, available through Mopar. Lubrication should be performed if there is a concern or complaint of linkage chatter, grinding, or other movement derived noises that are detectable in the cabin.

  1. If required, lightly lubricate all the gear to gear contact points, pivot points and the cable levers on the back of the A/C heater control using Molykote® Grease, available through Mopar.
  2. Connect the mode door and temperature control cables to the mode door and temperature control levers (1 and 2).
    NOTE:

    The outer cable housing should be butted against the mounting boss on the A/C heater control.

  3. Install the cable retaining clips (3) for the mode door and temperature control cables.
    NOTE:

    Carefully align the drive gear spline to the lever gear spline. Turning the control knob will assist in alignment.

  4. Align the temperature control knob to the temperature control lever (2) and install the lever to the pivot.
    NOTE:

    Carefully align the drive gear spline to the lever gear spline. Turning the control knob will assist in alignment.

  5. Align the mode door knob to the mode door lever (1) and install the lever to the pivot.

  6. Connect the wire harness connectors (3) to the A/C heater control.

  7. Position the A/C heater control (1a) in the instrument panel cover and align it with the centering pins (1b).

  8. Install the four screws (1) that secure the A/C heater control (2) to the instrument panel cover.
  9. Install the shifter cover bezel. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Install the instrument panel trim panel. Refer to PANEL, INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  11. Remove the instrument panel center air vent bezel. Refer to BEZEL, INSTRUMENT PANEL, CENTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
  13. Initiate the Actuator Calibration function using a scan tool. Refer to DTC TROUBLESHOOTING .
