Control Unit
The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is located under instrument panel, on passenger side of vehicle. The ECU is a digital microprocessor. Air/fuel mixture calibrations for various driving and atmospheric conditions are programmed into the ECU. The ECU monitors and analyzes various inputs, computes engine fuel and ignition timing requirements based on these inputs, and controls fuel delivery and ignition timing accordingly. As operating conditions change, the ECU adjusts injector pulse width and ignition timing for optimum performance and fuel economy.
