Preliminary Inspection

Prior to front end alignment, check vehicle for proper tire size and inflation. Also check wheel and tire radial lateral runout. Steering and suspension components should be inspected for damage and replaced if necessary. Wheel bearing endplay and brake operation should be corrected if necessary. Center steering gear as follows:
1. Support vehicle on alignment rack.
2. Turn steering wheel completely to the left, then completely to the right and count number of turns to the stop.
3. Turn steering wheel to the left one-half the number of turns counted.
4. If steering wheel needs to be centered, adjust after toe adjustment. Refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair.
