Test SP-21A Checking Brake Switch Circuits For Open

  1. If DRB-II display shows RELEASED at all times, perform TEST SP-21B  . If DRB-II does not show released at all times, disconnect brake switch connector. Inspect connector. If connector condition is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  .
  2. If connector condition is okay, connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 1 (Black/Light Green wire) and terminal No. 2 (White/Pink wire) at brake switch connector. Using RB-II, read inputs monitor. If DRB-II does not show RELEASED at all times, go to step 4).
  3. If DRB-II does show RELEASED at all times, check brake switch adjustment. If brake switch is not adjusted correctly, adjust brake switch. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  .
  4. If DRB-II does not show RELEASED at all times in step 2), connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 2 (White/Pink wire) and ground. Using DRB-II, read inputs monitor. If DRB-II display shows RELEASED, repair open in Black/Light Green wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  .
  5. If DRB-II does not show RELEASED at all times, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove jumper wire. Disconnect Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC) connector. Inspect connector. If connector condition is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  .
  6. If connector condition is okay, using an external ohmmeter, check resistance at White/Pink wire between terminal No. 29 at SBEC connector and terminal No. 2 at brake switch connector. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace SBEC. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If resistance is more than 10 ohms, repair open in White/Pink wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  .
