Bleeding Brake System: GALANT

  1. On FWD models, loosen 2 check valve bolts approximately one turn. Check valve bolts are located on delay valve assembly. On all models, follow appropriate brake bleeding sequence. See Fig 1.
  2. Due to a restriction inside delay valve, brake pedal will normally feel heavier when bleeding rear brakes than when bleeding front brakes. When all air is bled from system, tighten check valve bolts to 15-18 ft. lbs. (20-24 N.m). Ensure master cylinder is filled to proper level.
CAUTION: On Galant, follow correct brake bleeding sequence. Front Wheel Drive (FWD) procedures differ from All-Wheel Drive (AWD) procedures. See Fig 1.
