Input Check

If self-diagnostic check is necessary, perform self-diagnostic check before performing input check. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC CHECK  under TESTING. Input check should be made if no self-diagnostic codes exist, cruise control system cannot be set and when necessary to check if input signals are normal. Input check display codes are displayed only if circuit is normal according to conditions in INPUT CHECK DISPLAY PATTERNS chart. See Fig 1 . To access input check display codes, proceed as follows.

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using an analog voltmeter, connect voltmeter positive lead to self-diagnostic check connector terminal No. 5 (cruise control) and negative lead to terminal No. 12 (ground). See Figure . Diagnostic check connector is located next to junction block, above left kick panel.
  2. Ensure all accessories are off. Turn CRUISE switch off. Turn cruise control SET switch and CRUISE switch on. Within one second, turn RESUME switch on. Perform each input check according to INPUT CHECK DISPLAY PATTERNS chart. See Fig 1 . If any input check codes exist, refer to INPUT CHECK CHART and perform indicated test. See Fig 2 .
