Speedometer Test

  1. Speedometer is cable driven from transaxle. If cruise control equipped, test drive to check for satisfactory cruise control operation. Cruise control will not operate if Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is not rotating. VSS is integral within speedometer.
  2. Before removing instrument cluster, check for broken speedometer cable, or worn speedometer drive gears in transaxle.
  3. If speedometer cable and gears are good, and cruise control operation is satisfactory, replace faulty speedometer.
