Total Pinion Torque

Using Preload Socket (CT-1108) and torque wrench, rotate pinion gear one revolution every 4 to 6 seconds. Measure from lock to lock. Torque reading should be 5-11 INCH lbs. (.56-1.24 N.m). If reading is not as specified, adjust pinion and check total pinion torque again. If pinion torque cannot be adjusted, check rack support cover, rack support spring, rack support and replace any parts necessary.
