Knock Sensor

On 4-cylinder turbo models, knock sensor is mounted in intake manifold to detect knock in any cylinder. This sensor generates an input signal to PCM when knock occurs. PCM uses this input to adjust spark advance and boost schedules.

3.3L (VIN T) models do not use a knock sensor. On 3.3L (VIN R) and 3.8L V6 models, knock sensor is mounted on engine block. On 3.5L models, knock sensors are mounted in top of cylinder block below cylinder heads. Sensors detect knock in any cylinder. PCM uses this information to adjust spark advance.
