Test SC-55A - Code 77, Repairing Cruise Control Power Relay Circuit

NOTE: Perform TEST FC-1A  before proceeding.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove cruise control relay from junction block. Junction block is located under left side of dash behind kick panel. Inspect relay connector. If connector is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE SC-VER  .
  2. If connector is okay, turn ignition switch to ON position. Put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Using DRB-II, check voltage at cruise control relay connector terminal No. 16, ignition 12-volt supply circuit (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE SC-VER  .
  3. If voltage is more than 10 volts, using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between cruise control relay connector terminal No. 16, ignition 12-volt supply circuit (Dark Blue/White wire), and cruise control relay connector terminal No. 17, power relay control circuit (Tan/Red wire). If resistance is more than 100 ohms, replace cruise control relay. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE SC-VER  .
  4. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect and inspect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) 60-pin connector. If connector is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE SC-VER  . If connector is okay, using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of power relay control circuit (Tan/Red wire) between PCM connector terminal No. 55 and cruise control relay connector terminal No. 17.
  5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE SC-VER  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Using DRB-II, check resistance at PCM connector terminal No. 55, power relay control circuit (Tan/Red wire).
  6. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace PCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE SC-VER  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE SC-VER  .
