Diagnosis & Repair Procedure
- Ensure ignition is off. Connect scan tool to DLC. See Figure
. Check if scan tool is able to communicate with ETACS ECU. Follow scan tool instructions. If communication is not possible, go to next step. If communication is possible, go to step 4).
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between DLC terminal No. 16 and ground. If battery voltage does not exist, inspect and repair circuit between fuse No. 10 and DLC. See appropriate wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the WIRING DIAGRAM section. If battery voltage does exist, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition is off. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between ground and DLC terminals No. 4 and 5. See Fig 1
. Repair as needed. If circuits are okay, recheck with alternate scan tool.
- Access receiver behind driver's interior quarter panel. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect receiver harness connector. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between DLC terminal No. 1 and receiver harness connector terminal No. 7. Repair as needed. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check continuity between receiver harness connector terminal No. 10 and ground. Repair as needed. If circuit is okay, check continuity between harness connector terminal No. 20 and ground. Repair as needed. If circuit is okay, replace receiver.
