Intake Charge Pressure Control System Test

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Disconnect pressure hose (Black hose) at lower fitting on turbocharger wastegate solenoid. See Figure . Turbocharger wastegate solenoid is located at passenger's side of engine compartment, just below air cleaner and contains a Black 2-pin connector with Red and Red/Yellow wires in the connector.
  2. Install plug in disconnected pressure hose. Connect vacuum pump to lower fitting on turbocharger wastegate solenoid from where pressure hose was disconnected.
  3. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using vacuum pump, apply vacuum to turbocharger wastegate solenoid. Turbocharger wastegate solenoid should hold vacuum. If vacuum can be maintained, go to next step. If vacuum cannot be maintained, replace turbocharger wastegate solenoid.
  4. Start engine with vacuum still applied. With engine idling at normal operating temperature, turbocharger wastegate solenoid should not hold vacuum. If vacuum decreases as specified, intake charge pressure control system is functioning properly.
  5. If vacuum does not decrease as specified, replace turbocharger wastegate solenoid. Remove vacuum pump and reconnect pressure hose.
