Coil, Ignition: Installation: Installation
- Using compressed air, blow out any dirt or contaminants from around the top of spark plug.
- The ignition coil seal (1) can be reused if not damaged.
- Check the condition of the ignition coil rubber boot (2). To aid in ignition coil installation, apply a silicone based grease such as Mopar® Dielectric Grease # J8126688 into the spark plug end of the rubber boot (3).
NOTE:
Number 1 cylinder ignition coil shown in illustration, all others similar.
- Position the ignition coil (1) into the cylinder head cover opening. Using a twisting action, push the ignition coil onto the spark plug.
- Install the ignition coil mounting bolt (3) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs).
- Connect and lock the electrical connector (2) to the ignition coil (1).
- Install the oil separator housing (4) to the cylinder head cover with three bolts (2) tightened to 13 N.m (115 in. lbs.).
- Connect the vent hose (3) to the oil filler neck.
- Connect the PCV hose (1) to the intake manifold.
- Install the air cleaner body (6). Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION - [EAB] .
- Install the engine cover (1).
- Connect the negative battery cable and tighten nut to 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.).
