Unit, Brake Operating: Operation: Operation
During normal vehicle braking application, the brake pedal is de-coupled from the master cylinder internally. The pedal feel simulator (PFS) controls the pedal feel so the driver still feels pedal force when the braking is performed by the eMotor (generator) through the regenerative braking system (RBS)
In the event of an RBS failure, the BOU will function as a traditional master cylinder, providing coupled master cylinder operation and friction braking through the ABS unit.
