SPECIAL TOOLS

- NPN wiTECH micro pod II
- NPN Laptop Computer
- NPN wiTECH Software
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Open the hood. Install a battery charger and verify that the charging rate provides 13.0 to 13.5 volts. Do not allow the charger to time out during the flash process. Set the battery charger timer (if so equipped) to continuous charge.NOTE: Use an accurate stand-alone voltmeter. The battery charger volt meter may not be sufficiently accurate. Voltages outside of the specified range will cause an unsuccessful flash. If voltage reading is too high, apply an electrical load by activating the park or headlamps and/or HVAC blower motor to lower the voltage.
- Connect the wiTECH micro pod II to the vehicle data link connector.
- Place the ignition in the "RUN" position.
- Open the wiTECH 2.0 website.
- Enter your "User id" and "Password" and your "Dealer Code" , then select "Finish" at the bottom of the screen.
- From the "Vehicle Selection" screen, select the vehicle to be updated.
- From the "Action Items"
screen, select the "Topology"
tab.NOTE: The PCM must be at the latest software calibration level after completing this recall.
- From the "Topology" tab, select the "PCM" icon.
- From the "Flash"
tab, compare the "Current Electronic Control Unit (ECU) Part Number"
with the "New ECU Part Number"
listed.
- If the "Current ECU part Number" is the same as the "New Part Number" , proceed to Step 21.
- If the "Current ECU part Number" is NOT the same as the "New Part Number" , continue with Step 10 .
- Select the PCM flash part number. Read the flash special instructions page. Select "OK" to continue.
- From the flash ECU agreement page, agree to terms by checking the box.
- Select "Flash ECU" and then follow the wiTECH screen instructions to complete the flash.
- (BA), (FF), (BF) and (BG) vehicles with manual transmission: When prompted by wiTECH, depress the clutch pedal then release.
- (BA), (FF), (BF) and (BG) vehicles with speed control: When prompted by wiTECH, depress speed control ON/OFF switch and verify speed control indicator illuminates.
- From the "Topology" screen, select the "All DTCs" tab to view the DTCs.
- Select "Clear All DTCs" and then select "Close" .
- (BU) and (FB) vehicles with manual transmission: In the PCM "Misc Functions" menu, perform the "Clutch Pedal Learn" routine. Follow the prompts shown on the diagnostic scan tool.
- (BU) and (FB) vehicles with speed control: With ignition in RUN position, depress speed control ON/OFF switch to turn speed control ON then depress the speed control ON/OFF switch again to turn speed control OFF.
- (BU) and (FB) vehicles will require a Target Linear Coefficient (TLC) relearn process be completed. To perform the TLC relearn, start the engine with no DTCs and let it run until coolant temperature reaches 60°C (140°F). When the desired engine temperature has been reached, stab and release the throttle pedal to obtain an RPM of greater than 6000 RPMs.
- (GA) and (GU): In the PCM "Misc Functions" menu, perform the "Phonic Wheel Replacement" procedure. Follow the prompts shown on the diagnostic scan tool.
- From the "Topology" screen, select the "All DTCs" tab to view the DTCs.
- Select "Clear All DTCs" and then select "Close" .
- Place the ignition in the "OFF" position and then remove the wiTECH micro pod II device from the vehicle.
