Module Programming

Blind Spot Module (BSM) calibration procedure is required when the BSM, BSM bracket or the rear fascia is replaced

Equipment:

The BSM calibration must be carried out only after the following items have been completed:

  1. Using a plumb bob, mark the vehicle center line on the floor at the front using the center of the front hood ornament (1a) as a reference and label this mark A.

  2. Use the plumb bob to make another center line mark at the rear of the vehicle using the center of the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) (1a) as a reference and label this mark B.

  3. Run a straight line (1a) through point A at the front of the car through point B at the rear of the car and continue past the rear bumper and mark that spot as C. Spot C must be 6.70 to 6.74 meters (21-22 ft.) from the front of the front bumper.

  4. Measure to the right of point C 67.0-67.4 centimeters (26.3-26.5 inches). This must be at a right angle to the center line and mark it as point D.
  5. Measure to the left of point C 67.0-67.4 centimeters (26.3-26.5 inches). This must be at a right angle to the center line and mark it point E.

  6. Place the (special tool #2042400080, Simulator, Rear Radar Doppler) (1a) on spot E. Plug it in and turn it on. Confirm the tool is turned on by verifying that the green power light is illuminated.
  7. Adjust the Rear Radar Doppler Simulator special tool 2042400080 so that the top of the head (3b) is 64-66 cm. (25-26 in.) from the floor (2). Take caution to not drop the head when you loosen the knob at the rear. 
  8. Level out the Rear Radar Doppler Simulator special tool 2042400080 by adjusting the feet (3a) until the level gauge shows level.
  9. Ensure that the Rear Radar Doppler Simulator special tool 2042400080 is parallel to a line that runs through spot D, C, and E.
  10. Using a scan tool, navigate to the "BSM Blind Spot Module" and select the "Misc Functions" menu.
  11. Select and run the "BSM Radar Aiming" procedure and follow the steps to complete the left side calibration.
  12. After the left side calibration is complete, reposition the Rear Radar Doppler Simulator special tool 2042400080 on point D and run the procedure again to calibrate the right side.
  13. Once the diagnostic scan tool reads that the calibration was successful, the procedure is complete.
